Liebke Projects transforms a 1950\u2019s fibro beach shack into a contemporary family home.<\/em><\/p>\n The transformation of this 1950s house into a modern family home has been an exciting project for the team to work on.\u00a0 An updated take on the minimalist beach shack it once was, the renovation celebrates the elements of contemporary beachside living.<\/p>\n The renovation consisted of the removal of all but two walls of a small fibro beach shack and majority of the flooring, then proceeding to execute a major residential renovation inclusive of the installation of a new kitchen, bathroom, laundry, garage, internal and external living spaces. The second stage of the project involved adding an entire second level and outside landscaping.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Careful planning between Liebke Projects, Architects (Paul Brough), and the clients ensured that all parties were aware of the scope of works involved in this project and the face to face approach of Liebke Projects allowed for any changes to be made along the way.<\/p>\n You will see from the images of this project that the client started out with a 1950\u2019s fibro shack on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. With their third child on the way, the growing size of this family needed more internal space while still maintaining a large backyard for the kids to play.<\/p>\n Through the design process with the Architect, the family decided to move the house as far forward to gain the backyard size they desired at the rear of the house.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The upper-floor addition consists of three bedrooms, a study, a bathroom and a parents\u2019 retreat. Designed by architect, Paul Brough, and built by Sydney developers, Liebke Projects, the project makes use of wide, oak flooring to carry a seamless, airy flow throughout space.<\/p>\n The kitchen windows are caf\u00e9-style with a concertina functionality that means that the outside bar and deck area feels very connected to inside. Spilling outside to the entertaining area there is a built-in BBQ unit, bar fridge and an undercover, custom-built seating area which is great for outdoor dining. Full-height commercial aluminium doors and windows create an openness that suits both family life and entertainment.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”3500″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” el_class=”full-width” title=” “][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”3911″ img_size=”large” el_class=”full-width”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n A beautiful feature of the space is the sundrenched, open stair void. With its frameless glass balustrade, steel custom joinery and floating, hardwood stairs, the stairwell seemingly fills with the light pouring in from windows above it and it is an exquisite highlight in the room.<\/p>\n Paying tribute to the local surrounds and natural heritage, the outdoor entertainment area has distinctive spotted gum balustrades. Indoors, Corian and blackbutt wooden benchtops feature throughout. The warmth of wooden details were incorporated throughout the renovation and appear in the bathroom and kitchen as well, creating an interesting, contemporary contrast to the marble and other surfaces.[\/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=”3907,3908,3906,3909″ img_size=”large” onclick=”link_no” autoplay=”yes” wrap=”yes”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n While the spirit of the build is wide open-plan spaces filled with light, the interiors delight in detail. A fresh feature of the ensuite is the framed, hexagon marble mosaics on the wall. The hexagonal motif continues with uniquely-shaped mirrors to match, and the theme continues with hexagonal wall tiles.<\/p>\n A sleek, modern gas fireplace is positioned in the centre of the living room. Its minimalism seems to cancel out the bold charcoal colour and dominate the bright, white open-plan room.
